Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2017 GLA at an introductory price of Rs. 30.65 Lakh (Ex. Showroom) in the country. The GLA facelift is available in four trim levels – GLA 200 d Style, GLA 200 Sport, GLA 200 d Sport, GLA 200 d 4Maitc. The new model made its first debut at the North American International Auto Show and gets slight updates to its exterior as well as interior. The GLA facelift will compete with the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40.
Speaking of the exterior changes, the GLA facelift gets a redesigned front fascia with reworked bumpers with larger air-intakes, newly designed LED headlamps LED daytime running lights, a new front grille with chrome. The side profile of the facelift version is largely the same as its predecessor. At the rear, the car gets new LED taillamps. To give it a sportier look, the car gets blacked out ORVMs, blacked out roof and B-pillar and the car rides on standard 18 inch alloy wheels. Inside, the car seems almost identical to its outgoing model, but the changes have been made to the infotainment, which is now a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with that many chrome highlights are there in the cabin, slightly updated instrument cluster. Now you can choose cabin upholstery from out of 4 different trims, a 360-degree rear-view parking camera and an electric tailgate.
Under the hood, the 2017 Mercedes Benz GLA facelift will continue to be offered with the same set of engines – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.1-litre unit. The 2.0-litre petrol unit is good to crank out 181bhp of top power with 300Nm of peak torque, while the 2.1-litre diesel unit will be available in two states of tuning – 134bhp and 168bhp of power. All the powertrain would come paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The new GLA comes with four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sports and Individual, where as the GLA d 4Matic would also get an offroad mode.
