The 2017 Mercedes E-Class sedan, with a longer wheelbase, has been recently introduced in India. This sedan is available in a total of two trim levels - E200 and E350 d. However, there are some reports stating that Mercedes Benz is planning to launch a new trim of the car, the 220 d. This variant might turn out to an important addition to list as it would complete the void in the offering.

Mercedes is currently looking to downgrade the engine in the E-Class 220 d from Euro IV to BS IV to make sure that the car gets a clean chit in India on the first go. This process is long, hence, the launch of this new variant may take place sometime by June 2017.

The 2017 Mercedes Benz E-Class 220 d is expected to get an all new diesel 2.0-litre, four cylinder engine. This engine will be able to make a maximum power of 191 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm.

The Mercedes Benz E-Class sedan has good safety features for both 350 d as well as the 200 petrol trims. It gets child safety lock, ABS and 7-safety airbags as standard. Hence, the new 220 d variant is also expected to get the same set of safety features as standard.
