The Spanish automaker SEAT has started testing its upcoming car, the next generation SEAT Ibiza across Europe. However, according to a shot published by auto motor und sport, the Ibiza was being tested in a bizarre way. The Ibiza was disguised in such a manner, that one can easily mistake it as a Hyundai i20. The car is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Automakers normally camouflage their cars just to hide its identity before launch. However, this type of camouflage is quite bizarre as the piece, which was glued onto the front of the car looks just like an actual i20 bumper without the Hyundai logo. Seat has done a brilliant job of hiding the Ibiza’s rear end as well. Under the disguise, the general styling of the Ibiza seems to be influenced by the Ateca.
The next generation Ibiza will be the first car from the VW group to be based on the MQB A0 platform, which is the smallest version of the MQB platform. The Bavarian group will also use this new platform in its next generation Audi A1 and VW Polo as well. The forthcoming Ibiza is also anticipated to a better interior setup to make the model feel more upmarket, and it seems to have grown in size as well, which has helped to scoop out more interior space.
The upcoming hatchback is expected to be powered by VW’s latest four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, along with the naturally aspirated three cylinder 1.0 liter petrol engine of the outgoing model.
The upcoming next-generation Ibiza will also spawn a crossover version later in its life, which will sit just below the Ateca SUV as an alternative to the Audi Q2.
