Touted as the most affordable model from the British car marquee, Aston Martin in its current line-up, the Aston Martin Vantage has finally been launched in India with prices starting from Rs 2.95 crore (ex-showroom). Built on the same underpinnings as DB11, the Aston Martin Vantage receives plethora of changes over the previous version with 70 per cent of new components used in the model. The only feature that is carried over from the last generation version is the door handle. While bookings for the Vantage has already started in the country, deliveries for the GT will start in two to four months.
The new Aston Martin Vantage weighs less, offers more power and higher speed as compared to the predecessor. Visually, it takes design inspiration from Vulcan supercar and the DB11, albeit it gets completely new front and rear sub-frames. The coupe has been designed so as to suffice car’s aero needs from under the car without making any prominent change on the outside. There is a splitter on the lower front end that channel the air under the car to direct the flow through to the rear diffuser. At side, it gets outlets that enable air pressure that escapes from the wheel arch.
According to the company claims, the Aston Martin Vantage is the most practical car by the company yet. It has a ground clearance of 122 mm that makes it compatible with the Indian roads. The insides of the Aston Martin Vantage receive copious changes as it gets an ergonomically designed new centre console with mounted buttons, some of which have been taken from AMG. There are a plethora of bespoke options for the cabin.
As for the mechanicals, it gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 unit that has been tuned to produce 503 bhp of massive power at 6,000 rpm against peak torque of 685 Nm torque between 2000 to 5000 rpm. This unit is supported by a ZF sourced 8-speed gearbox which transmits power to the rear wheels. It additionally comes with paddle shifters and three driving modes-Sport, Sport+ and Track. It is also the first Aston Martin to come equipped with an e-differential. There is an adjustable suspension set-up as well. On the performance front, the engine propels to 100 km/h from rest within 3.5 seconds while attaining a top-speed of 315 km/h. While the springs and bushes have been updates, it gets new adaptive Skyhook dampers.
