The Pune based manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, launched the 2018 Avenger Street 220 and Cruise 220 at Rs. 93,466 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Both the new Bajaj Avenger series motorcycles have received comprehensive updates over the 150cc variant, comprising of the number of visual changes along with improved suspension system. The bikes get revised styling featuring LED DRLs, new digital console and a newly designed 3D logo of the brand on the fuel tank.
The 2018 Avenger Cruise retains its conventional cruiser design and gets a new classical design headlight with integrated LED DRLs. The windshield has also been provided more of a contemporary look and the analogue instrument console has been replaced by a digital pod featuring a blue backlight. Besides the regular black paint scheme, a new moon white colour option has been added.
On the other hand, the all-new Avenger Street 220 gets a sporty stance featuring a new roadster design headlight with LED DRLs. It gets a fully-digital instrument console similar to its sibling with amber coloured backlight. It has been offered in a new matte black and matte white paint schemes.
In addition to the changes, Bajaj has reworked on the rear suspension of both the bikes in order to provide better stability for comfortable long rides. It continues to sport telescopic forks up front. For braking power, the front wheel equips disc brake and the rear wheel gets drum brake. The new Avenger bikes were expected to feature ABS, but it was given a miss this time also. Mechanically, the Avenger series motorcycles draw power from the same 220cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable enough to churn out a maximum power of 18.7 bhp against a peak torque of 17.5 Nm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The 2018 Bajaj Avenger bikes have been priced around Rs. 5,700 more compared to the previous models. But, the prices are competitive enough to stand against the new Suzuki Intruder.
