Ducati India will launch the 2018 Monster 821 in the country on May 1, 2018. The company revealed the launch date through a teaser image of the new Monster 821 on its social media handles. Interestingly, the 2018 Ducati Monster is the commemorative model that celebrates 25th anniversary of Monster 900, the very first Monster to roll out of the Ducati manufacturing line.
The 2018 Ducati Monster 821 gets a host of new styling elements including a new headlamp reminiscent of Monster 1200, reworked fuel-tank and restyled tail section. In addition, it also gets all new dual exhausts and full-colour TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth, that has also been taken from the Monster 1200.
Power on the prowess will be sourced from the same 821cc, Testastretta v-twin engine used in the preceding model, albeit it will be calibrated to abide by the BS IV emission regulations. In terms of power, the engine makes 108bhp at 9,250rpm (2bhp down from the previous model) against 86Nm of peak torque at 7,750rpm. Transmission duties will be carried over by the six-speed unit. It additionally comes with three riding modes-Urban, Touring and Sport with separate setting on ABS and traction control.
Aside from the cosmetic changes, the bike will also get a new Ducati Yellow colour along with Ducati Red and Matte Black colours. Suspension set-up will comprise 43mm front forks and adjustable shockers at the rear, while braking power will be derived from dual 320mm front disc and M-4.32 radial calipers. Ducati is also offering accessories such as Ducati Quick Shift (Up/Down) and Ducati Multimedia System on the bike.
Set to be priced aggressively in the Indian market, the new Ducati Monster 821 will take on the likes of Triumph Street, Suzuki GSX-S750 and Kawasaki Z90 in the segment.
