Ducati India has announced the official launch date of its 2018 Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S through a teaser image. The Italian bikemaker will launch 2018 Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S in the country at an official event on June 19, 2018. Ducati had first previewed the Multistrada 1260 at the Ducati World Premiere, just before the EICMA 2017 in Milan, Italy.

Coming to the mechanicals, the 2018 Multistrada 1260 derives power from the high displacing 1262cc engine which gets a slightly longer 71.5mm stroke than the existing model. Besides, the engine also comes equipped with Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) which is responsible for combining variable timing with desmo value actuation that puts out a well-proportioned combination of horsepower and low-rpm torque and also meets Euro-4emission norms. This enables the engine to offer a very flat torque curve, delivering 85 per cent of peak torque from as low as 3,500rpm. In terms of output, the engine now makes 159bhp at 9,500rpm and 129.4Nm toque at 7,500rpm. On the price front, we expect the models to retain current pricing, akin to the Europe-spec versions, which did not witness any change in price.

The Ducati Multistrada will be available in four variants including-the standard 1260, Multistrada 1260 S and S D-Air and Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. Mechanical changes such as a retuned chassis and increased steering rake (from 24 to 25 degrees) and a longer swingarm measuring 48mm have been made to get better performance from the engine.

With a slight increase in the wheelbase from previous 1530mm to 1585mm, the bike is expected to offer more comfortable riding and improved stability. The suspension set-up comprises 48mm inverted forks at front and shock by Sachs at the rear.

The feature list on the new Multistrada includes a new high-definition colour TFT display, navigation, semi-active Duacati Skyhook Suspension (DSS), barrage of rider assist options such as a vehicle hold control and four riding modes-sport, urban, endure and touring.
