Ford India has launched the new 2018 version of the Aspire at a starting price of Rs 5.55 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.45 lakh for the diesel version (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Aspire gets loads of cosmetic updates and some goodies added to the its feature list along with some mechanical updates. The 2018 Ford Aspire facelift will be offered in five variants – Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+.
Speaking of the exterior, the 2018 Aspire gets a new face boasting of a honeycomb grille with chrome, revised headlamp and a newly designed front bumper and the black-design central air dam, round fog lamps and C-shaped chrome surrounds on either end. The car will ride on a new set of multi-spoke alloys, nonetheless the ORVMs are also updated. Going to the rear, it features revised taillamps with a thick chrome slat running through the boot lid connecting both the taillights.
Inside the new Ford Aspire, you will notice a black and beige dual-tone upholstery with slight restyling made to it. In terms of features, the new Aspire facelift now gets a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new model also comes with company’s in-car connectivity system SYNC3, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; new AC vents, auto climate control, illuminated USB sockets, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD),and engine start/stop button, while the automatic variant will get the Hill-Launch Assist feature as well. For Safety, the car offers dual airbags across the variant line-up, whereas the top-of-the-line Titanium+ trim offer up to six airbags. The new model also gets Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), helping drivers better grip.
Interesting part is under the Ford Aspire’s bonnet, where it now gets a new 1.2-litre petrol engine from Ford's Dragon series of engines that makes 96bhp of maximum power and 120Nm of top torque and will come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This is the same engine that made its Indian debut with the Freestyle and will return an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 20.4kmpl on the Aspire facelift. That apart, the Ford Aspire facelift will get a new 1.5-litre petrol unit that will come mated to an 6-speed automatic transmission only, which is now a simpler torque converter unit. This powertrain will deliver power figures of 121bhp and 150Nm, which is a bump of around 13bhp and 14Nm compared to the outgoing model. This engine also does duty on the Ford EcoSport. The diesel engine is the same 1.5-litre unit that makes same power figures, however, it has been tuned for better fuel efficiency, giving a slight rise from 25.83kmpl to 26.1kmpl.
