The testing mule of Ford Figo Cross has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for the first time. The uplifted version of the Figo in the new Cross hatchback is expected to be launched in the year 2018.
The American automaker, Ford had earlier launched the Figo Cross in the Brazilian market in early 2017. Now, with the updated version of the model undergoing production and with the recent reports of the model being tested on the Indian roads, one can expect it to be launched in the Indian market too.
The tested model of Ford’s new hatchback featured a prominent black colour shading across the body with stylish looking black-painted alloy wheels, which looks smaller in proportion to the model. The inside cabin is expected to be freshly designed with an updated dashboard and a new touchscreen infotainment system.
The Indian-spec model is expected to offer both diesel and petrol engines to the new hatchback. The petrol unit will be powered by Ford’s new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Dragon series engine, which is expected to churn out a maximum power output around 110 bhp to 120 bhp. On the other hand, the diesel unit will offer a 1.5-litre TDCi engine to produce a maximum power of 99 bhp against a peak torque of 215 Nm. Both the engines will come with the transmission options of a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
The uplifted version of Ford Figo is expected to directly compete with the likes of the new Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and the Volkswagen Polo based on the Cross hatchback. The new model of Figo will be priced slightly on the higher-end to the regular ones. It is expected to be priced at Rs. 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
