Hero MotoCorp has silently re-launched the iconic 2018 Karizma ZMR at an introductory price of Rs 1.08 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the Indian market. The dual-tone variant comes at a price tag of Rs 1.10 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi), revealed the company's website. Although, the dealer dispatch hasn't commenced yet as the company is still to officially announce the reintroduction of Karizma ZMR in the country. Hero Karizma ZMR challenges the likes of Yamaha R15, Bajaj Pulsar 220 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V in India.

According to the data released by SIAM, Hero shipped 17 and 12 units of the motorcycle in May and June, respectively. The company is reportedly working on the next generation of the bike which could be launched by 2020 in the country. Firstly introduced in 2003 in the Indian market, Hero Karizma has received several cosmetic and mechanical updates over these 15 years. However, Hero had to finally pull the plug off Karizma in April 2017 owing to various reasons. The foremost reason behind the discontinuation of Karizma was the rising competition and deteriorating sales figures. Secondly, as the BS-IV emission norms were introduced in the country, the company had no choice but to phase it out.

Mechanically, 2018 Hero Karizma ZMR is powered by a 223 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with fuel injection. This engine develops top power of 20bhp at 8000rpm and peak torque of 19.7Nm at 6500rpm, while paired to a 5-speed transmission. The bike features disc brakes at the front as well as rear, while ABS is not available even as optional feature. The suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks at front and 5-step adjustable twin shock-absorbers at the rear. The current BS-IV norms mandate every new two wheeler to come with fuel injection system and ABS as standard features, but the Karizma ZMR can still save itself from this as it is not an all-new product.
