The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has introduced the 2018 Super Splendor i3S in the country. It is the updated version of the manufacturer’s popular commuter bike, which has been the major contributor to the company’s supremacy in the over the years.
The deliveries of the 2018 Super Splendor i3S are most likely to start from the first week of January 2018. The update brings a series of changes in the design of the motorcycle, which transforms the commuter motorcycle almost to a completely new avatar.
The new Hero motorcycle receives a sporty stance with an aggressive looking front fascia. Up front, it gets a new Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) and a new three-pod instrument cluster. It continues to retain the 13-litre fuel tank, which offers a healthy range for a commuter bike.
The suspension system of the bike comprises of telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and a rectangular swing arm with five-step adjustable hydraulic spring at the rear. In terms of braking, the new motorcycle is equipped with 130mm internal expanding-type drum brakes on both the wheels. It runs on the 18-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels.
Under the skin, the 2018 Hero Super Splendor i3S is offered with a BS IV compliant engine mechanism that features a 124.7cc, air-cooled, four-stroke cylinder, self-start engine that manages to churn out a maximum power output of 9 bhp at 7,000 revolutions per minute against a peak torque of 10.35 Nm at 4,000 revolutions per minute. The engines come paired with a four-speed constant mesh gearbox to transmit the power to the wheels. Additionally, the motorcycle is equipped with i3S iSmart technology to save fuel. It automatically stops the engine when the bike stops, thereby, increasing the claimed mileage to an impressive 80 kmpl.
The motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp is priced at Rs. 56,215 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and continues to rival the likes of Honda CB Shine and TVS Star City.
