Honda has launched the updated CB Hornet 160R in India at a starting price of Rs. 84,675 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The popular 160 cc sporty commuter motorcycle comes wearing several updates like new and exciting body decals, LED headlamp, new digital instrument cluster and an optional single-channel ABS. The bike is available in four different variants and the pricing ranges between Rs. 84,675 and 92,675 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Honda displayed the updated CB Hornet 160R at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo alongside the Honda X-Blade. Honda launched the latter one a couple of weeks ago in the same segment. Both the new CB Hornet 160R and the X-Blade share couple of same design elements. Interestingly, these two models are the only bikes in the 160 cc segment to have the LED headlamp. The Honda CB Hornet 160R competes with rivals like Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 etc.
The new Honda CB Hornet 160R gets a fresh looking fully digital instrument cluster with blue backlight instead of amber. Mechanically, the 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R comes with the same engine as the previous one. The 162.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox. This engine churns out 14.7 bhp of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 14.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm.
The bike gets CBS technology, while there are two variants with single-channel ABS as well. Honda has seen a pretty good response with the CB Hornet 160R in the 160 cc sporty commuter bike segment. Now, with the new model launched, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is expecting greater sales result. Also, along with the X-Blade, the new CB Hornet 160R is expected to bring a significant sales number for the brand. As the company is aiming to become India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer by 2020, these two models could play a crucial role in that strategy.
