Honda India will launch its highly-anticipated all-new 2018 Honda CR-V in India on October 9, 2018. The model was previewed in India at the Auto Expo 2018 alongside other upcoming Honda cars in India. Getting a generation change, the all-new CR-V gets visual changes inside out, while the most prominent change remains addition of a diesel engine which was missing earlier. One of the other highlights of the fifth-generation CR-V is the optional seven-seat layout.

On the cosmetic front, the new CR-V will receive new styling changes including LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, a thick chrome bar, 18-inch alloy wheels, twin exhausts, LED indicators, power-adjusting ORVMs, tailgate spoiler, roof rails, etc. To fit in the third row, changes have been made to its dimensions. That said, the new model measures 4,517 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width and gets an extended wheelbase which is around 41 mm longer than the previous model. This would also allow 150-litre of boot space which can further be expanded to 976-litre by folding second and third row seats. Feature list on the new Honda CR-V will include an eight-way adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric power brake and power-adjusting front seats.

The new CR-V will receive major mechanical changes with Honda’s Earth Dreams 1.6-litre engine powering the diesel range. India will get the single-turbo unit good for maximum power of 120 hp against 300 Nm of torque. This engine will get a nine-speed automatic gearbox with standard paddle shifters and an optional all-wheel drive. The petrol line-up in the carline will use Honda’s 2.0-litre engine with 154 hp and 189 Nm torque. Honda will offer a CVT with the petrol unit, though it will miss out on the four wheel drivetrain or paddle shifters. Set to get a third-row, the 2018 Honda CR-V will compete with Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and Isuzu MU-X in the segment with prices likely to fall between Rs 27 lakh to Rs 33 lakh.
