Hyundai India is gearing up for the launch of the facelifted version of its popular SUV, Hyundai Creta. Expected launch in 2018, it has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for the first time.

India is yet to get the refreshed version of the Hyundai Creta, which is already on sale in the international markets. Hyundai has now begun the testing of the updated Creta in the country and a highly camouflaged testing mule has been seen first time in the hilly region of Yercaud in Tamil Nadu.

The spy images of the testing model do not reveal much about the car. However, the 2018 Hyundai Creta is expected to receive vital cosmetic changes over the existing one. It might get a newly designed highly textured cascading front grille along with a revised bumper and new housing for the horizontal front lamps. The interiors will also be refreshed with various technical updates. It is most likely to receive a newly designed dashboard featuring a new infotainment system.

Mechanically, the Indian-spec model will be powered by the same engine mechanism that runs the existing Creta. The car will be available in two diesel and one petrol engine variants. The 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine is capable enough to produce a maximum power output of 121 bhp against a peak torque of 151 Nm. For diesel options, 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre motors are available, which deliver a maximum power output of 89 bhp and 126 bhp respectively. The transmission options of the car include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2018 Hyundai Creta is expected to be priced in the range starting from Rs. 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom), which will be slightly higher from the existing models. Once launched, the Creta will be up against the likes of Renault Captur and Nissan Terrano.
