Hyundai is working on the midlife facelift of the Elite i20 and the car was recently spied doing some test rounds on the streets of Chennai. As per the spy shots, the new version gets some updates to its exterior as well as to its interior. Hyundai has not said anything regarding the launch date of the model, but it will make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018.
Exterior wise, the Hyundai Elite facelift would get a new single-frame hexagonal grille same as seen on the new Xcent, but it will be distinctive from the compact sedan with its mesh-type black grille. The headlamps and front bumper are likely to be revised and are expected to feature integrated LED DRLs. The test mule also had a set of fog lamps as well. The spied model was riding on a newly designed set of black finished alloy wheels. At the rear, we can expect it to come with a redesigned rear hatch, tail lamps along with the bumper. Inside, the Elite i20 facelift is expected to come with updated interiors with some improved equipment.
Mechanically, the Elite i20 facelift is expected to carry the same set of engines as the current model. Currently, the petrol variant gets a 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre engie that makes 82 bhp and 99 BHP, respectively. The diesel comes with a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that makes 89 bhp with 220 Nm. Transmission options includes a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic for the petrol variants, while the diesel models would get a 6-speed manual gearbox.
