2018 Hyundai i20 automatic launched at Rs 7.04 lakh

Snapshot: Hyundai i20 CVT has finally made its way to the dealerships and has been priced at Rs 7.04 lakh for the Magna and Rs 8.16 lakh for the Asta variants (All prices, Ex showroom, Delhi).

Followed by the launch of the new Creta compact SUV, Hyundai i20 CVT has finally made its way to the dealerships and has been priced at Rs 7.04 lakh for the Magna and Rs 8.16 lakh for the Asta variants (All prices, Ex showroom, Delhi). In the Indian market, the Hyundai Elite i20 rivals with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz.

Though it is not the first time that Hyundai has introduced the automatic, the pre-facelift version had the option of an automatic (4-speed torque converter) transmission as well that was paired with a 1.4-litre petrol engine. With the advantage of Indian vehicular tax laws (applicable to sub-4-metre cars with engines under 1200cc), the new Elite i20 comes packed with 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 82bhp, that makes it competitive pricing to its predecessor. While comparing the pricing of the automatic to the manual variants, the cost goes up over Rs 1 lakh.

There are no other changes apart from the introduction of the CVT automatic on these two variants. The car competes in the premium hatchback segment and all of its rivals come packed with a CVT option as well. At the aforementioned price point, Hyundai elite i20 clearly undercuts its  rivals, where the pricing of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CVT that starts from Rs 7.10 lakh to Rs 8.41 lakh and Honda Jazz CVT priced gets a Rs 7.71 lakh to Rs 8.47 lakh
