The automatic version of the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 has been spotted testing in Tamil Nadu and it is most likely to be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. The mid-life update over the second generation model of the Hyundai i20 brings with itself several cosmetic changes to look refreshing.
The second generation model was launched in 2014 and the upgrade to the model has come at the right time. Going by the spy images of the Hyundai Elite i20 facelift, the front and the rear profile of the car is completely camouflaged, while the side profile is kept exposed. However, the front fascia of the car is expected to get a cascade hexagonal grille, new headlamps with integrated LED DRL (daytime running light) and a newly designed front bumper. The side profile looks to be similar to the existing model, except the newly designed alloy wheels that are similar to the wheels of Mercedes CLA. The rear-profile gets a redesigned tailgate, newly-styled bumper along with new LED taillights.
The interior of the updated model is expected to receive a refreshed cabin with several modifications in the feature list. The seats and steering wheel are expected to be wrapped in fine leather.
Under the skin, the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift will continue to feature the same petrol engines in tuned versions - 1.2-litre Kappa unit and 1.4-litre VTVT engine, while the diesel variant continues to be powered by the 1.4-litre CRDi engine. However, Hyundai is also expected to introduce a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as an option. The engines are most likely to be in its tuned version to render better fuel efficiency.
The 2018 Hyundai i20 facelift will compete against the likes of Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The prices are expected to be slightly on the higher side from the present price range from Rs. 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs. 9.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
