2018 Hyundai Santro spied for the first time

We know that Hyundai is developing a new small car that is expected to come in 2018. The new car, which is expected to be called the next generation Hyundai Santro, has been spied in disguise.

The spied unit of the new Hyundai small car has been spotted at the highway near Chennai. Incidentally, the area where this car has been spotted is near the production factory of Hyundai India. The car was wrapped in a good amount of camouflage. However, we can make out that the car is designed in a much more conservative way and nothing as fancy as the Hyundai Eon. The spotted car had plastic wheel covers indicate that might just be the entry-level trim to the entire model trims.

Recalling back to the time when the 2017 Hyundai Verna was launched, the CEO and MD of Hyundai India, Y.K. Koo, had confirmed that the company was looking to build a small car that would be brought to the market by the second half of 2018.

The 2018 Hyundai Santro successor type car will all be getting the company’s AMT gearbox which will be developed in-house. However, the Hyundai mentions that the name of the car is yet to be finalized. It would also be a little bigger than the Santro, which would be a great aspect of the segment.

But we think this would be great if the company continues with the Santro branding for the new car as well as this would get the unmatched reputation of the Santro back into business. It is expected to be slotted between the Hyundai Eon and Grand i10, which would bring it to rival against the Tata Tiago and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The pricing is expected to be around the Rs. 4 lakh mark.
