Earlier, we reported that Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is working on a hatchback, codenamed ‘AH2’, the new-generation Santro. The car has been spied many times and yet again more spied images has surfaced online. The new Hyundai Santro was spotted doing some test rounds in Gurgaon on the covered with heavy camouflage.
The spy shot reveals the tallboy silhouette with a big glass area. The same ORVMs and fender-mounted side indicators are easily noticeable same as seen on the Hyundai i10. The spotted version was riding on the wheel covered on steel rims, suggesting it to lower variant of the model. The new model seems to have a high mounted stop lamp, a rear windshield and a set of block headlamps. Also, the all-new Santro gets some prominence on the roof hinting that it might have a roof spoiler.
Speaking of the engine, there is no such official confirmation from the brand. But we can expect the all-new Hyundai Santro to come packed with a 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engine options, same as seen on the Hyundai i10. The transmission would be carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox. As we know there is a growing demand for an AMT, expectations are that the manufacturer might consider offering an automatic option.
The new Santro is expected to make its launch somewhere around mid-2018. As it would be a entry-level car, it compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid.
