Being the most anticipated product by the Korean manufacturer, the 2018 Hyundai Santro Asta trim was recently spotted at a dealership yard in clear shots. The new hatchback is scheduled to launch on October 23 and the car has been spotted numerous times. The new Santro will be offered in a total of nine variants, out of which two are CNG variants.
On the outside, the range-topping Santro Asta trim gets grille with chrome surrounds, body coloured door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. Inside, it comes packed with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity, reverse parking camera, rear wiper and washer as standard. For the the safety, Hyundai will offer driver's side airbag, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors along with speed alert system.

Mechanically, the new Santro hatchback will come powered by a 1.1-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67bhp of power with 99Nm of torque. The engine will come paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT. With the new hatchback, Hyundai will also introduce its new AMT gearbox in the country. Hyundai’s Smart Auto AMT will be offered on the Magna and Sportz variants only.
As we mentioned earlier, Hyundadi will also offer two CNG variants on the Magna and Sportz trims. The CNG version will come with the same 1.1-litre engine and develops a power figure of 57bhp and will return a good fuel efficiency of 30.5km/kg.
In the Indian market, the new Hyundai Santro will rival against Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and the likes. We can expect to fall within a price range of Rs 3.8 lakh to Rs 5.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
