2018 Indian Chieftain Elite Launching on August 12

Indian Motorcycle will officially launch the Chieftain Elite in the country on August 12, 2018. The model has already been updated on the company’s official website ahead of the launch. It will have a limited run with just 350 units produced for the global markets. The company will allot just a few units for the Indian market, more information on which will be revealed at the day of launch. Interestingly, each unit of the bike looks different and sports custom inspired paint that takes around 25 man hours.

The Indian Chieftain Elite is primarily the top-spec model of the regular Chieftain which will get a bunch of advanced features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system supported by smartphone apps. It will additionally come with a USB port and AM/FM radio. Also expect, a 200-watt audio system with speakers integrated in the saddlebags. In addition to the aforementioned features, the classic cruiser will also get adjustable passenger floorboards made of aluminium billet, leather seat, cruise control, keyless start, remote-locking saddlebags, antilock-braking system, flare power windshield and a highway bar.

The Indian Chieftain Elite will be offered in Black Hills Silver paint scheme and will feature marble accenting. As for the power source, the classic cruiser will get a 1,811 cc Thunderstroke 111 V-twin unit that makes top torque of 161.6 Nm at 3000 rpm. The power figure is yet to be revealed, though it is expected to be around 100 bhp.

Coming to the braking set-up on the bike, it will equip dual disc units. That said, a 300 mm disc unit will serve at front as well as rear. Suspension duties on the bike will be carried out by the 119 mm telescopic fork at front and 114 mm single shock with air adjust at the back. In terms of pricing, we expect the Indian Chieftain Elite to be priced over the regular Chieftain which retails at Rs 32.1 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
