KTM, the Austrian-based manufacturer is gearing up to bring the updated version of its popular fully-faired bike, KTM RC390 in India. A testing mule of the 2018 KTM RC390 has been spotted without any camouflage.
The KTM RC390 has been the hot favourite, high-performance motorcycle in the country ever since it first came into production in 2013. With the new model spotted, the KTM RC390 facelift launch seems to be around the corner.
The spy images of the testing mule clearly depict its resemblance with the existing model, which seems to flaunt the same body graphics and colour scheme. Visually, the 2018 KTM RC390 looks almost similar to the outgoing model, painted in the black and orange shade. Some changes are expected to be made in the new model, which may include the adjustable clutch levers, digital instrument console with rear time efficiency and CAN-BUS system. The spy image clearly reveals the introduction of the new set of tyres in place of the regular Sportec M5 tyres.
The suspension duties on the new KTM RC390 is most likely to be governed by the same upside-down forks at the front and WP monoshock suspension unit at the rear. Both wheels feature disc brakes with switchable anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard.
Mechanically, the 2018 KTM RC390 is most likely to be powered by the same engine mechanism. It continues to derive its power from a 373.2cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output of 43 bhp against a peak torque of 36 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Currently, the price of the KTM RC390 is Rs. 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the price of the 2018 model is expected to be more or less in the same range. The fully-faired bike will continue to compete against the likes of Apache RR 310, Benelli 302R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF-R3.
