Maruti Suzuki will launch the keenly-awaited 2018 Ciaz facelift on April 20, 2018 in the Indian market. Last week, we brought you the exclusive images of the updated sedan in flesh, which indicated that the company has fully readied it ahead of the big launch. The facelifted Maruti Ciaz would come with substantial cosmetic as well as mechanical updates, while it would challenge the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. In fact, some Maruti dealers have already started taking bookings for the new model.

As the clear images have stated, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift would boast of a restyled front fascia with projector LED headlamps. These headlamps are already available with several existing Maruti vehicles such as Ignis, Swift, Dzire and S-Cross. In addition, the sedan would ride on newly-designed alloy wheels, while the rear end would get redesigned headlamps with LED. The interior cabin would be carried over from the ongoing model, save for a handful of updates in form of new wood trim in a lighter shade, height-adjusting rear headrests, and a new instrument panel. The cruise control feature will also be retained from the current model. The dealer dispatch is expected to begin from the first week of August for test drive and demo vehicle purposes.

Mechanically, the 2018 Ciaz facelift would be powered by an all-new 1.5L K15B petrol engine, which will replace the 1.4L K14B unit. This naturally aspirated engine delivers top power of 103bhp and peak torque of 138Nm on the Suzuki Ertiga, which was recently launched in the Indonesian market. So, the power and torque figures are expected to be the same when this engine debuts with the new Ciaz in the Indian market. It would be on offer with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the SHVS mild-hybrid system will also debut with the petrol variants in order to return higher fuel efficiency. The diesel variants would be powered by the same Fiat-sourced 1.3L DDiS motor. The prices are expected to be slightly on a higher side, starting from Rs 8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
