Two testing mules of the speculated facelift of Maruti Ciaz have been spied testing on the roads of Gurgaon. The newer version of the car is most likely to receive a new 1.5-litre diesel engine in addition to the existing powertrains. Perhaps, it is the same engine which is currently being tested.
The spy images of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz reveal that it might be the top-end Zeta variant of the car. It has received subtle cosmetic updates with premium touches at the exterior. The major changes include a redesigned two-slate grille, a new bumper with fog lamps, an LED DRLs, HID projectors and more prominent bonnet creases. The car will sport newly designed alloy wheels and instrument cluster along with a 2-DIN audio system.
Inside the car, there might not be too many changes except the inclusion of sunroof for the top-end trims. The interior is expected to be finished in a black shade, while most of the equipment and accessories are expected to be retained from the existing model.
Presently, the Maruti Ciaz features a 1,373 cc petrol engine that manages to produce a maximum power output of 91 bhp and a peak torque of 130 Nm, while the diesel variant derives its power from a 1,248 cc motor, which delivers a maximum power output of 89 bhp against a peak torque of 200 Nm. Both the engines come linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, the petrol variant gets an optional four-speed automatic gearbox.
Although there is no official word from the company on the upgraded Ciaz, there is a huge possibility of it featuring company’s own developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. The same engine is expected to power the company’s next-gen MPV, Maruti Ertiga. Moreover, the tuned version of petrol engine can also be expected in the facelift model.
The price of Maruti Ciaz starts from Rs. 7.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes up to Rs. 11.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One can expect the prices of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz to go up by Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 40,000 than the existing one.
