Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, one of the most successful MPVs in the country, is slated to get a facelift next year. With the car been out for production-ready testing phase, a new set of spy images have surfaced on the internet. However, the latest spy pictures reveal that the car is still covered under heavy camouflage.
Looking at the latest spy shot, one can say that it has some minute difference over the test mule that was spotted on various occasion before this one. This fresh spy shot shows that the Maruti Ertiga has darker alloy wheels. Other aesthetic features in this spied car include longer overhangs at the rear section. The Ertiga is not bound by the sub-4m boundary, giving the company the leeway to increase the length in order to make the third row more spacious and comfortable.
The new generation of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be built on the company’s HEARTECT platform that is used for the new generation Dzire, Ignis and the Baleno too. This would be making the car extremely lightweight. Also, the company will be replacing the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine with an in-house-developed 1.5-litre diesel. However, this might not happen at the time of launch but sometime later.
The current generation of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. The diesel engine makes a maximum power of 89 bhp along with a highest torque of 200 Nm. The petrol engine is slightly more powerful and makes 94 bhp power and 130 Nm of torque. The transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual unit across all the variants.
We are expecting Maruti Suzuki to debut its new products, like Ertiga and new generation Swift, on the opening day of the 2018 Auto Expo, which would be starting from February, 9.
