Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the much awaited 2018 Ciaz facelift in India at a starting price tag of Rs 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The top petrol and and diesel variants come priced at Rs 10.97 lakh (ex-showroom). This updated version of the popular midsize sedan boasts significantly refreshed design and upgraded features. Also, a new and more powerful in-house built 1.5-litre petrol engine has been introduced to the car that replaces the old 1.4-litre engine. Thanks to this updated version Maruti Suzuki will be able to throw tougher challenge to the rivals in this same segment.
Speaking about the design updated, front fascia of the sedan has gone through wide changes. These include sharper new headlamp cluster with LED projector lamp and integrated LED daytime running lights. There is a large and completely new front grille blended well with the headlamps. The lower air intakes with horizontal slats, chrome trim around the fog lamp enclosure too come updated. Apart from that, the car also gets new design alloy wheels and revised taillights with LED inserts.
Moving inside the cabin, new Ciaz gets a refreshed touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Suzuki Connect has been introduced to the model. Faux wooden trims are there as well adding premiumness to the cabin, while the seat and upholstery materials have been upgraded. There are safety features like ESP, Hill Hold Assist, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, speed alert. There are several accessories on offer as well.
On the powertrain front, both the petrol and diesel engines will be available with SHVS mild-hybrid technology instead of a diesel-SHVS version like before. Transmission options include a manual and an automatic unit. The petrol variant gets both manual and automatic gearbox options, while the diesel version will be available in manual option only. In terms of mileage, the petrol MT offers 21.56 kmpl, petrol AT generates 20.28 kmpl and the diesel MT kicks out 28.09 kmpl.
