Maruti Suzuki has been gearing up to launch the new generation Wagon R in India and the test mule of the tallboy hatchback has been spied testing in Shimla. As it appears, the Indo-Japanese auto manufacturer is performing high altitude tests for the popular model. Also, despite a completely camouflaged appearance, the new test mule has revealed the outline of the upcoming car.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R clearly carries the same tallboy appearance that is visible in the present model. However, it will come with significant design update for sure. The test mule reveals a larger glass area compared to the current model. Expect a revised headlamp, chrome garnished restyled new front grille and revamped bumpers as well.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will come with new alloy wheels as well. Not only exterior, interior of the car too will carry several changes for sure. There would be a touchscreen infotainment system in the top-end trim, which will help the new Wagon R to challenge the Kwid. Seat and upholstery materials are expected to come with updated appearance. In terms of space, it is likely to be same as the current Wagon R. The new generation hatchback would get safety features like dual front airbags and ABS as standard.

On the powertrain front, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is expected to come powered by an updated version of the 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine. This engine will churn out around 67 bhp of peak power and 90 Nm of peak torque and the fuel efficiency would be improved. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AGS as well. The car is expected to launch here sometime later this year.
