Renault, the French automobile maker, has unveiled the latest generation of its premiere SUV in India, the Renault Duster 2018. This new generation Duster is based on the Dacia Duster, which made its first public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new generation Renault Duster gets a 3-spoke steering wheel and rectangular air conditioning vents. At the centre of the dashboard, there is a MediaNav Evolution AVN (audio video navigation) touchscreen system and some controls for the automatic climate control. However, barring the steering wheel and the rectangular AC vents, everything else looks similar to the new Dacia Duster.
On the aesthetic parameter, 2018 Renault Duster will be given 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels. The front profile of the new model looks more aggressive than the present generation with a deeper front grille design. The wheel arches are more prominent too. All the other designing traits are borrowed from the Dacia Duster, barring the brand badge at the tailgate.
The 2018 Renault Duster will be available with two petrol trims and a single diesel trim. The petrol engine will be coupled to either a manual or a CVT (continuously variable transmission). The diesel variants will be available is two state of power tuning, one making 85 bhp while the other would be making 110 bhp. Both the fuel trims are expected to get the 4x4 and 4x2 drivetrain. However, we aren’t expecting the 85 bhp diesel trim to be getting the AWD mechanism for the Indian market.
Renault hasn’t revealed any official plans about bringing this new generation Renault Duster to India. The company may be focusing more on the newly-launched Captur and its marketing. Bringing the new Duster to India anytime soon could prove to be premature timing as it could hamper the sales of the Captur.
