Toyota India has silently launched the 2018 Camry hybrid sedan at a sticker price of Rs. 37.22 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The updated model gets a handful of tweaks inside the cabin alongwith a few added features. Toyota Camry Hyrbid would lock horns with the Honda Accord Hybrid in the Indian market, while it is nearly 2 Lakhs cheaper than the latter. The Camry Hybrid uses 6.5 Ah Nickel-metal Hydride battery pack with a couple of driving modes - ECO and EV.
Toyota Yaris would be launched with a petrol engine only!
Speaking of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid, it appears identical to the previous model. The front fascia flaunts the automatic LED headlamps with a chrome grille and circular LED foglamps. The front bumper houses triangular turn signals on either sides of it. The sedan rides on 17-inch 15-spoke alloy wheels, while the rear end boasts of large wraparound tail lamps and a chrome garnish. Inside the cabin, the Camry Hybrid gets an updated tan coloured upholstery and faux wood trim on various components such as the dashboard, steering wheel, arm rests and centre console. There is a new 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel which fills in the shoes of old 4-spoke unit. In addition, it comes with an updated touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in as well as a 12-speaker audio system.
The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid comprises of several avant-garde features in form of head-up display, wireless charging pad, 3-zone automatic climate control, power reclining rear seats with collapsible headrest and ventilated front seats. As far as safety of the occupants is concerned, the sedan comes packed with a plethora of features like 9 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control (VSC), hill start assist, electronically controlled brake system (ECB) and ISOFIX child safety seat mounting points to name a few. Mechanically, the 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol motor is at the helm of affairs with top power of 159bhp at 5700rpm & peak torque of 213Nm at 4500rpm alongwith a motor generator which develops 142bhp and 270Nm. The system is linked to an electronically controlled CVT (E-CVT).
