Volvo has launched the XC90 T8 Inscription in India t a price tag of Rs 96.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The seven seater Swedish luxury SUV gets the plug-in hybrid variant with this new model that is capable of running 40 kilometre on a fully electric mode. This comes as part of the Volvo’s commitment to launch environment friendly models in Indian market.
The main USP of the Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription is its powertrain that combined twin engines that are a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol motor along with an electric motor. The petrol engine churns out 315 bhp of peak power, while the electric motor generates 85 bhp of power output. Combined, the total power output is 401 bhp and the total torque output is 400 Nm.
Power is sent to all the four wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol engine delivers power to the front axle, while the electric motor generates power for the rear axle. Volvo claims, the SUV can reach 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds. The SUV is imported in India as CBU and this is presently the only plug-in hybrid luxury SUV under Rs 1 lakh slab.
Apart from the plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription is same as the XC90 Inscription diesel. It comes with a 19-speaker Bower and Wilkins premium audio system, head-up display, ventilated seats, Nappa leather upholstery, quad-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof etc. To make the car safer, it gets seven airbags, collision avoidance system, radr assisted adaptive cruise control, city braking system etc.
