The German automobile manufacturer, BMW has finally unveiled the much-awaited supersport bike, BMW S1000RR. The standard model has been launched at INR 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Coming to the CBU unit, the BMW S1000RR Pro Sport model price is INR 20.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Pro M Sport price is INR 22.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
Speaking about the BMW S1000RR specifications, it has a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine which churns out a max power of 207 bhp@13,500 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm@11,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed quick-shift transmission system. The bike replaces the version launched in 2009 and has come up with significant changes.
The BMW S1000RR gets some dimension changes, including a 1441 m wheelbase that makes it lengthier than the previous version, however, the seat height is reduced to 824mm. Now, it is around 11kg lighter with a kerb weight of 197 kg and gives a good power-to-weight ratio.
The German manufacturer also updated electronics package on the bike. The six-axis IMU power the DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) and cornering ABS. Talking of the standard model of BMW S1000RR, it comes with four riding modes such as Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. However, the M and Sport Package gets Pro riding modes known as RACE Pro 1, RACE Pro 2 and RACE Pro 3. These riding modes could be toggled through an all-new 6.5-inch full-TFT display. In addition, the 2019 BMW S1000RR uses Hayes brakes despite Brembo brakes that are used till now; and Marzocchi suspension has come into the favour this time.
The BMW S1000RR review states that the bike will face competition from Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (INR 13.99 lakh), Honda CBR1000RR (INR 16.41-19.26 lakh) as well as Suzuki GSX-R1000R (INR 19.81 lakh) (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). Ducati Panigale V4 and V4S are two more competitors of BMW S1000RR that are priced at INR 22.70 lakh and INR 26.5 lakh (both ex-showroom prices, Delhi).
