Ducati has launched the new Diavel, called the 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260, for the new displacement of the engine. It is priced at Rs 17.7 lakh for the standard variant and Rs 19.25 lakh for the 2019 Diavel 1260 S.
The styling hasn’t changed much for the Diavel except for a nip and tuck that makes it more aggressive-looking. The S gets LED DRLs while the standard variant doesn’t. The instrumentation is now a 3.5-inch TFT colour unit as well and offers self-cancelling turn indicators. It retains the same aggressive power cruiser format as before. There have been a host of mechanical changes to it, however. The engine is the new 1260cc L-twin unit that also does duty in the Multistrada 1260 with Desmodromic Variable valve timing. Here, it makes 157bhp and 129Nm. There is no difference in power output for either variant. Transmission is a six-speed manual, but the S has the two-way quickshifter as a standard feature, while it is optional for the base spec. A six-axis IMU allows it to have in addition to the quickshifter, cornering ABS, eight-level traction control, eight-level wheelie control, Ducati Power Launch Evo, and cruise control.
The standard Diavel 1260 gets adjustable 50mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. It gets radical Brembo M4.32 front brake callipers. The S gets uprated 48mm Ohlins upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock, all of which are fully adjustable. The brakes are also of a better specification, with Brembo M50 monobloc front callipers and a radial master cylinder.
The Diavel 1260 can be had in a grey colour scheme only. The S offers this paint scheme as well as a gloss black and matte black paint schemes. It will be available at Ducati dealers by the end of August. There aren’t any power cruisers on sale in India besides the Diavel, so it lies in a field of one, but the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob is something prospective owners will take a good look at while making their choice.
