Honda Two Wheelers India plans to launch the new CBR650R sports bike by early 2019. It will replace the current CBR650F and will be pitted against the Kawasaki Ninja 650.
The 2019 Honda CBR 650R will house a 649cc liquid cooled, in line, four-cylinder motor that can churn 95 bhp of max power at 12,000 rpm and 64 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with standard assist and slipper clutch.
It will feature the engine from the previous model but will come with certain modifications. It will deliver five per cent more power with higher revs up to 12,000 rpm. In terms of fuel efficiency, it is expected to give an approximate mileage of about 20 km per litre with a fuel tank capacity of 15.4 litres. The motor will most probably be BS-VI compliant.
The new Honda bike will feature dual split LED headlights, fully digital LCD instrument panel and a dashboard borrowed from the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. The clip-on handlebars are placed 30mm lower and further ahead, while the footpegs are 6mm higher and 3mm towards the rear which gives the new Honda CBR650R a sporty look.
This new Honda motorcycle will offer Honda Selectable Torque Control to control traction at the rear wheel with the support of 41mm upside-down Showa forks with 120mm travel along with an adjustable rear mono shock with 43.5mm wheel travel. The new Honda CBR 650R will be offered in two colour schemes of Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. There is no confirmation from Honda about the price yet, however, the launch price can be expected to be around Rs 8 lakhs.
