Hyundai has previewed the 2019 Elantra facelift in Malaysia. The showcased model is meant for the ASEAN markets and gets subtle cosmetic changes to distinguish itself from the left-hand-drive version, revealed last year. However, changes to the exterior are superficial as it sports redesigned alloy wheels at sides and some chrome bits.
On the outside, the ASEAN-spec 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift gets automatic projector headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. The resemblance with its left-hand-drive version reflects in the interior as it sports similar styling. One must note though, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift misses out on the automatic climate control system and instead gets a manual unit. This feature could be available in other markets.
Other bits that are packed inside include leather upholstery, an infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. It additionally gets a reverse camera and tyre pressure monitoring system. Safety kit comprises six airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and vehicle stability control among others.
Power on the executive sedan is drawn by the same 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit. The Malaysia-spec Elantra will only get a single petrol option. As for the Indian market, Hyundai could offer the 1.6-litre oil burner along with the 2.0-litre petrol unit. It could vary a bit in terms of features with a larger 8-inch touchscreen unit for the infotainment system. Aside from that, expect the India-bound model to get ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control, six-airbags and ABS among others. In its segment, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift will rival the likes of Skoda Octavia, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis.
