Hyundai is planning to launch a range of new cars in the Indian market in the next 2-3 years. Not just all-new cars, Hyundai will introduce the new-generation models of the Grand i10, Xcent, Elite i20 and the Creta. The popular Grand i10 will be the brand's first model to receive a new-generation in 2019. In fact, testing of the new model has already been commenced.

A test mule of the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 was filmed in Pimpri-Chinchwad, near Pune. The model was spotted alongside the outgoing Maruti Wagon R. Just to inform you, Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the new-generation Wagon R hatchback. Though, Hyundai Grand i10 is a direct rival to the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift.  Next year, the company will also enter into the sub-4 meter SUV & electric segment with STYX and Kona EV. The new Grand i10 will be third Hyundai to go on sale in 2019.

Going by the spy images available on the internet, it is visible that the next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 will feature the evolved Fluidic Design philosophy. The new design is already offered in premium Hyundai cars globally. Upfront will be a new, bold cascading grille, more angular headlights and Elantra-inspired fog lamp enclosure on the aggressive bumper. On sides, the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 will have a strong, rising beltline. The current model for India is riding on a longer wheelbase to create more space for rear occupants. It is expected that the next-gen model for both India and international markets will have an extended wheelbase.

It is expected that the next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 will receive several new features inside the cabin to gain competitive edge. The hatchback could receive a floating type touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, steering mounted controls for telephone and music, new upholstery for seats, etc.

The new-gen Grand i10 will be based on the modified BA architecture that also underpins the current model. The new model will have better structural integrity along with a range of safety and security features. Adding to it, the hatchback will be equipped with BSVI compliant engines. The petrol version will continue to feature the 1.2-litre Kappa engine, which is likely to be more fuel efficient. Moreover, the hatchback will receive AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) unit instead of 4-speed torque convertor. Hyundai could remove diesel option from the Grand i10 as it would require huge investment to transform the current BS4 compliant 1.2-litre diesel engine to upcoming BSVI emission norms.
