Hyundai is gearing up for the comeback of its new compact hatchback, the Santro in India by the second half of this year. As claimed by the Korean car manufacturer, the new model gets "Family Design Concept" and has been doing the test round in the country quite frequently. A new set of spy images of the model has surfaced online while doing some test rounds. The hatchback will be slotted between the Eon and the Grand i10, replacing the i10 in the market and will compete with the likes of the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

Although there are not much details out yet on the new model, but definitely with the old moniker of Santro it will create waves in the country once the detailing gets in tight. Going by the spy images, the test mule was heavily wrapped around camouflage, though not revealing much of the exterior detailing, but surely gives an idea of its road presence with a tall-boy stance somewhat near similar to its predecessor. The front and rear gets a wider glasshouse and will also get a newly designed front and rear bumper with features like fog lamps, reverse camera and LED tail lamps. Inside, the new Santro would come with a spacious cabin and would come loaded with a driver-side airbag as standard, semi-digital display and a touch-screen infotainment system.

Mechanically, the new Hyundai Santro is expected to draw its power from the same 1.1-litre petrol engine as seen on the i10. However, we can expect the engine to be tweaked as per the the new emission norms. The new Santro is expected to get a price in the range of Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh (Ex showroom).
