MG Motor is readying for its much-awaited India entry with MG Hector SUV. The model has been caught testing several times earlier, giving concrete details on the styling and features to be offered with it. Now, some new details have emerged about the MG Hector along with a new spy shot. According to reports, the MG Hector will get a six-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be developed indigenously by MG-SAIC, which will be offered with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit.
With this, MG Hector will be the second model in the segment after Jeep Compass to offer a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. On the other hand, rivals such as Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson come with a CVT and a torque converter respectively. As for MG Hector, the dual-clutch auto box will additionally get a Sport mode along with paddle shifters. Sources in the know reveal the dual-clutch auto box has been thoroughly tested for over 2.6 million km across the globe.
Talking of the feature list, the MG Hector is expected to pack a raft of tech such as a single sunroof which will be offered with the lower variants while the panoramic sunroof would be reserved for the top-spec trim. Interestingly, the panoramic sunroof would be the largest in its segment, besides, the SUV will also receive a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, which will be the largest in the country.
In addition, expect the SUV to get a bunch of other goodies like a 360-degree surround view camera, Harman sourced Infinity audio system with four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer. Standard bits will include steering mounted controls for audio and telephone functions, while other features such as push-start button, cruise control, keyless entry, tyre pressure monitoring and a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat could also be a part of the pack.
On the mechanical front, the MG Hector will get a 2.0-litre diesel unit along with the 1.5-litre petrol engine. A six-speed manual transmission will also be on offer. As for the pricing, with almost 75% of localisation of parts, the company aims to price MG Hector competitively. Set for its India debut, the company has been conducting road shows in all major cities in the country ahead of MG Hector’s launch by mid-2019.
