Triumph Motorcycles - the iconic British motorcycle manufacturer is on a spree of launching new and updates products in the Indian market this year. After a few days of launching the all-new Triumph Speed Twin, the Brits have announced the launch of a more off-road based motorcycle - the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC. Globally, the Scrambler 1200 is available in two variants, the XC and the more extreme Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. However, only the base-XC is making its way to India and the XE might be introduced sometime later.

The propulsion duties on the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC is carried by a parallel-twin 1200 cc motor, which also powers the Triumph Thruxtonwhich is a hardcore modern cafe-racer. The motor here on the 2019 Scrambler 1200 XC is in a different state of tune as compared with the Thruxton. The Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC's motor makes 90 bhp of max power at 7,400 rpm and 110 Nm of max torque at 3,950 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The suspension duties on the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC is carried by a 45 mm fully adjustable Showa USD at the front and fully adjustable Ohlins dual shock absorbers at the rear. The wheel travel at both the ends is a massive 200 mm, certainly a welcome figure for the enthusiasts. The 2019 Scrambler 1200 XC sails on the 21-inch front wheel which is a first in the segment and 17 inchers at the rear. The spoke wheels are shod with tubeless Metzeler Tourance rubber.
The anchoring department on the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC packs dual front discs and a single disc at the rear. The motorcycle is also equipped with slip and assist clutch, switchable traction control and switchable dual-channel ABS. There are five riding modes to play with, namely - Road, Rain, Sport, Rider and Off-Road. These riding modes will surely engage the rider on the tarmac as well as off it. All of this equipment and electronics are complemented by a digital instrument cluster which is also Bluetooth enabled. This will assist the rider with turn-by-turn navigation, music and call information.
The 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC also gets an in-built GoPro controller, a TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), USB port and optional heated grips. The 2019 Scrambler 1200 might get a cornering ABS unit as well, but we all have to wait till the launch of the motorcycle to see if it gets one. The 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC will be up against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and it can also face competition from its family member - the Triumph Tiger 800 XCA. For the update, Tiger is an adventure tourer with off-road capabilities but the Scrambler 1200 is a more off-road friendly machine.
