Volkswagen Motorsport India has declared the registrations open for drivers’ selection for the 10thVolkswagen Motorsport India’s touring race car series and the 3rdAmeo Cup Series. The driver selection process will take place later at the Indi Karting Track in Kharadi, Pune based on their performance in the karting sessions.
Selection round will test overall driving skills like consistent performance, driving attitude, awareness of racing lines, lap times and versatility. The registration deadline is 3rd February 2019.
The races will happen as part of the MMSC-FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship on all the three Indian circuits - Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore and MMRT in Chennai.
Mr Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India said, “2019 is a special year for Volkswagen Motorsport in India. We are entering our 10th year and looking back, I feel a sense of pride in the journey that we have covered be it in terms of the progress we have made in infrastructure to the work we have done in raising awareness about motorsport in the country and supporting amateur and seasoned talent alike. We have had some great races last season and I look forward to another year of superb talent and racing season.”
The Ameo Cup racecar is exclusively developed and is the fastest car to come out of the Volkswagen Motorsport India workshop. It houses a 1.8-litre TSI motor and mated to a racing gearbox. The Volkswagen car matches international standards in terms of performance and safety. Its build design helps beginners to learn on and professionals to improve themselves in. The Volkswagen Ameo Cup format will include a grid of 20 equally prepared machines and 10 races scheduled throughout 2019.
