  • It could be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Yamaha has unveiled the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 Facelift for the Malaysian market at a price of RM11,988, which is nearly around Rs 2 Lakhs. The updated motorcycle gets new graphics and colors while retaining the same mechanicals. The company has introduced three new colors for the YZF-R15 V3 Facelift: Matte Black, Yellow, and Racing Blue. Although, these paint schemes are already available in Thailand for the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 but they can be expected in the Indian market as well.

The updated YZF-R15 V3 comes with USD front forks and pre-load adjustable monoshock rear suspension in Thailand and Malaysia. However, the India-spec model is equipped with the traditional telescopic units in order to keep costs in check. The braking duties are performed by 282 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc, while the features include an all-digital instrument cluster and LED headlamp, which are borrowed from the bigger company bikes. Based on a delta box chassis with an aluminum swingarm, it boasts of a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology. The engine develops top power of 19.2bhp and peak torque of 14.7Nm, while linked to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch technology as standard.

Yamaha had introduced the MT-15 motorcycle earlier this year, based on the R15 V3.0, which directly rivals the KTM Duke 125. It received a decent response from the buyers and it could propel the Japanese bikemaker to launch the XSR155 in the Indian market. For those asking, Yamaha XSR155 is almost identical to the R15 V3.0 while sharing several elements. It is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. Yamaha is also expected to foray into the neo-retro entry-level motorcycle segment in the country by launching an all-new bike next year.
