- VW MQB A0 IN SUV has been teased again, this time in a video
- It will be revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo
- Will go on sale in 2021
As expected, it gets a new-gen LED DRL that are light guides. The silhouette of the MQB A0 IN SUV is similar to the VW T-Cross - in fact, it might share a fair few dimensions with the latter. The first product to go on sale from this design will be the Skoda small SUV currently called the Skoda Vision IN concept, to be launched in the second quarter of next year. It will be a locally manufactured product, unlike the current Polo and Vento, whose turbo petrol engines and DSG gearboxes are imported.
The new Skoda/VW SUV will be powered by a 1litre TSI petrol (built-in India this time) mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG automatic. There doesn’t seem to be any diesel power on the cards for now, but a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine might power a performance variant of the SUV. All these models will be a front-wheel-drive for the Indian market.
Before the launch of the VW MQB A0 IN SUV in the second half of 2021, VW has three other models scheduled for launch – the T-Roc, Tiguan All space, and the Passat facelift. Of these three, the T-Roc will be a CBU, while the other two will be locally assembled.
The VW group will be present at the 2020 New Delhi Auto Expo, where its fleet of current and upcoming products will be on display.
