Bajaj Auto has unveiled the 2020 Chetak electric scooter in an event held in New Delhi today. The revival of the iconic Chetak brand, albeit in an electric avatar, after almost 14 years is indeed a special treat to all the fans ahead of the festive season in India. The company also flagged off "Chetak Yatra" from Delhi in presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road, Transport & Highways and Amitabh Kant, CEO Niti Ayog.
Speaking of Bajaj Chetak Electric, it flaunts a hypnotic horseshoe shaped LED headlight with DRLs. The scooter also gets feather touch activated electronic switches and sequential scrolling LED blinkers. It also boasts of a big digital console to display vehicle information. The new Chetak electric will be available in a total of six color schemes. The scooter is also linked with an array of mobility solutions such as data communication, security and user authentication. The Chetak mobile app provides buyers a comprehensive overview of the vehicle and its ride history.
Being made on a rigid frame clad with sheet metal body panels and a tubular single-sided suspension, 2020 Bajaj Chetak electric is powered by an IP67 rated high tech Lithium-ion battery with NCA cells which can be easily charged by a household 5-15 amp electric socket. The on-board Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) is responsible for controlling of charge and discharge. Furthermore, the buyers can also opt for a home charging station at a nominal cost. The scooter also gets a couple of driving modes - Eco and Sport, besides a reverse assist mode as standard.
