2020 Honda City Spied Testing in Thailand, Images and Details Inside

The 2020 Honda City is underway and tests for the fifth-gen model have already begun. The 2020 Honda City images below testify the same. Currently, in its fourth generation, the next-gen model is expected to launch in India in early 2020. Even though the spotted test mule is heavily camouflaged, it reveals some of the styling details.

It looks visibly large compared to the current model and most of the changes have been made to the front end with wide wraparound headlamps flanking the wider grille. The bumper in front has also been restyled and the Honda logo in front has grown larger. The new Honda City is likely to be based on Honda’s latest design language which is used in Accord. Details deeming 2020 Honda City interior are yet sketchy, albeit it is expected to raise the bar in terms of fit and finish, making the cabin plusher than the current version. Also, expect it to come fitted with some new convenience and comfort features.

Aside from looks, the new Honda City is also expected to get a mild-hybrid variant akin to the arch rival Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. A full hybrid variant is also expected to be rolled out that will be specific to the international markets. As for the 2020 Honda City specs for the petrol and diesel driven variants, the model will most likely come with BS-VI 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC oil burner. These engines will either get a standard manual gearbox or an optional CVT.

The current model comes with a BS-IV compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which belts out 118 bhp at 6,600 rpm along with 145 Nm of peak torque at 4,600 rpm. It comes with a conventional 5-speed manual unit with an optional CVT. Diesel variants draw power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC oil burner with a top power of 99 bhp at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed manual unit.
