Hyundai India will launch the 2020 i20 facelift in June this year in the country, states a new report from Autocar India. The testing for the new hatch has already commenced. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will boast of a substantial cosmetic makeover while available with a total of three powertrains.
The 2020 i20 facelift will take styling cues from the European model, just like almost every new India-spec product of Hyundai. It will take radical departure in exterior styling as compared to the current model. There will be a new front fascia with extension in the signature cascading grille, which will be flanked by a pair of sleek and upswept headlamps. The front bumper will be redesigned, taking inspiration from the Elantra. The rear end will be as eventful as the front fascia with a new boot lid and tail-lamp cluster with indicators integrated within.
Dimensionally, the 2020 i20 Facelift will be under 4 metres in length to continue getting the tax benefits. The cabin will also be updated with a plethora of new features, including the Hyundai BlueLink system. It will based on an updated platform of the current model while mechanically featuring three engine and transmission options: 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine with top power of 82bhp and 5-speed manual & CVT gearbox, 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine with top power of 98bhp with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT auto gearbox, and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine with top power of 89bhp and 6-speed manual and auto gearbox.
