Kia Motors has finally unveiled the all-new K5 sedan for the South Korean market. The sedan debuts a new design philosophy from the brand. The company has released the dimensions and exterior details of the sedan, but it has refrained from divulging mechanical specifications. Though, Kia is is no hurry to introduce the K5 in the Indian market as its plate is full of vehicles till 2020 at least.
The K5 is also known as Kia Optima in several international markets. As for dimensions, the sedan is bigger and better than its predecessor. It measures 4905mm in length and 1860mm in width which is an extension of 50mm and 25mm, respectively, from the present model.
The height has been reduced by 20mm to 1445mm in order to give it a sloping and sporty roofline while the wheelbase has also been increased to 2850mm. As for the exterior styling, it appears rather muscular than the preceding model with a lot of chrome treatment.
The front fascia flaunts Kia's ‘Tiger Nose Evolution’, which reflects a broader three-dimensional design. The headlamps and grille are integrated more realistically than the current model. The new headlamps come with unique ‘heartbeat’ DRLs (daytime running lights) with the bumper being positioned a bit lower.
The silhouette is also sporty with the wraparound LED tail lamp cluster, which features the same 'heartbeat' pattern as the headlamps. Kia K5 will ride on newly developed machine cut aluminum alloy wheels as standard.
