- The 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R is set for a global debut on November 5, 2019.
- KTM has released a teaser video revealing exciting details of the naked bike
- The KTM 1290 Super Duke R was spotted testing at the Circuito De Almeria, Spain.
The second teaser video of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R reveals interesting details like the bottom portion of the engine, an Akrapovic race exhaust, and aero wings on the tank extensions.
The teaser video show tyres wrapped in warmers with an engineer recording the temperature of the track along with a group of people getting the bike ready to race on the track.
The data testing of the bike has been going on for some time now. A closer look at the first teaser video reveals that the Super Duke R features a new trellis frame. A cast-alloy bolt-on subframe is shown as an attachment to the mainframe. Thus, the bike could be lighter than the existing 1290 Super Duke R that comes with a steel trellis frame and subframe.
The teaser video also reveals new dual-exhaust pipes and more extensive tank panels. One can expect the bike to come with a Euro 5-compliant engine. It is not immediately known whether it can result in a power drop from the 177hp that the existing engine delivers. One will know after KTM reveals the 2020 model specification details.
However, one can expect the 2020 model to deliver excellent performance with its advanced electronics features.
Currently, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R features a 1301cc V-Twin engine capable of delivering a torque of 141Nm. This bike comes with other features like ABS, traction control, and different rider modes. The new 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R could come with similar or advanced electronics.
Expect the showcasing of the new KTM 1290 at the EICMA 2019.
