The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio is bigger than the existing version.
Camouflaged models of the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio undergoing road tests is not a new affair. However, the latest pictures show the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio test mule catching fire suddenly.
Reports say that the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio was on its routine road test when the driver sensed smoke emanating from the engine. He parked the vehicle near the pavement and exited it quickly. Within minutes, flames engulfed the car reducing it to ashes. Luckily, there were no injuries to anyone.
The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi in February. The SUV shares the architecture with the all-new Thar. The new platform will lead to a larger and spacious cabin and could come with better dynamics.
The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will also get a BS-VI compliant 2L diesel engine that is also available on the Mahindra XUV500 and Mahindra Thar. This diesel engine will deliver a power of 160ps for the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio, whereas it will generate 180ps for the next-gen Mahindra XUV500.
The SUV will feature both automatic and manual transmission systems, whereas the 4WD could be an option on the high-end trims.
Spy shots reveal that the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will be more spacious than the existing version. Though the tests have taken place under heavy camouflage, Mahindra assures that the new model will retain the bold and aggressive look while matching up with the modern upmarket trends at the same time.
