After making a debut in the Auto Expo 2020, the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will be on sale early next year
Mahindra Scorpio 2020 will have a new BSVI compliant diesel engine.
Mahindra & Mahindra is planning for a dual launch early next year of the Mahindra Thar, and the newly designed 2020 Mahindra Scorpio. Both these SUVs will make a debut at the Auto Expo 2020 in February. It has already started testing its next-generation 2020 Mahindra Scorpio.
The Mahindra XUV300 has boosted the sales figures of Mahindra after the below-par performance of the Mahindra TUV300. The launch of the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra Thar will raise it even further. Mahindra is now in the process of streamlining its SUV platforms to comply with BSVI emission norms from April next.
Spy photos show that the next-gen 2020 Mahindra Scorpio design has undergone a complete revamping. The rear end has become taller, thereby offering more ground clearance. The revamping of the Mahindra Scorpio design includes the redesigning of the tail lamps and the tailgate. One expects the Mahindra Scorpio interiors to be more spacious than the existing model. The other features will get an upgrade with the inclusion of more premium equipment.
A new touchscreen infotainment system is on the cards. The new design will also incorporate a redesigned dashboard, a new instrument console, steering wheel, and horizontal air conditioning vents. The Mahindra Scorpio 2.0-litre diesel engine will be BSVI compliant and capable of producing 160ps. This diesel engine will pair with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission system. In spite of being more prominent than the existing model, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will be lighter by around 80 kg.
