Mahindra & Mahindra is working on the next-gen model of its flagship SUV, the XUV 500, which will be launched by mid-2020 in the Indian market. However, ahead of the launch, the SUV has been spotted as a test mule several times but this time, a close-up image of the interior cabin has been captured.
Going by the exclusive interior spy-shot, the new-gen 2020 Mahindra XUV 500 will get an all-new flat-bottomed steering wheel which has been never seen before on any company product. The dashboard has been divided into three segments. There is a huge instrument cluster which, in all likelihood, will feature a TFT panel with digital clocks.
It will also have a large 9-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The dual AC vents will be horizontal in shape while positioned below the infotainment system.
Mechanically, the 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will be powered by a bigger and more powerful iteration of the current model's 2.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. It will be a BS 6 certified diesel engine with a top power of 180bhp. However, the tuned down version of this very engine with top power and peak torque of 140bhp and 320Nm, respectively, will at the helm of new-gen models of Scorpio and Thar.
The engine will comprise two new elements in the form of DPF (diesel particulate filter) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction). The transmission options, identical to the outgoing model, will be the same: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
