The Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.
The electric version of the Wagon R will be called Futuro-E.
Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E price is expected to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki is testing its electric prototypes in India for quite some time now and they have been spotted on the Indian roads many times. Recently a patent application was leaked online with the name of ‘Futuro-E’. We expect that the electric vehicle from the house of Maruti Suzuki will be known by this name. From the heavily camouflaged spy shots, we can see the body of the new generation Wagon R with no exhaust pipes and no radiator grille suggesting that the new EV will be known as Futuro-E.
Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E will come with a tall boy design derived from the Wagon R. It will feature a split tail lamp setup, it is not yet clear if the turn indicators will be placed on the top of the LED daytime running lamps. Below the strip, Maruti Suzuki may place projector headlamps with fog lamps in the lower half of the bumper. From the side, you can see that there is a charging port in place of the gas filler and alloy wheels derived from the Ignis.
At the rear, we can see a rear wiper with washer and the tail lamps are placed vertically just like the Wagon R. Just like other Maruti Suzuki cars the Futuro-E is also expected to be based on HEARTECT platform. The interiors will come with the latest generation of SmartPlay studio system which will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. We expect that the Maruti Suzuki will showcase the EV at the Auto Expo 2020.
Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E price is expected to be around Rs. 10 lakh considering that the Maruti Suzuki is known for budget-friendly vehicles. Maruti Suzuki Futuro-E range is expected to be around 180km and the battery is expected to come with fast charging capabilities with up to 80% charge in an hour. We expect that the EV will be sold from the Nexa dealerships as it will be a premium hatchback.
